Sissinghurst Castle Gardens Day Trip — A Coach Trip to Kent’s Finest Garden

April 20, 2026 | Allenby Coach Hire

Sissinghurst is always worth a visit in the spring.  The guide greeted us at the coach and handed out maps of the grounds; very handy for those who like to explore the grounds,  varying distances too around the natural lakes.  We walked around the garden grounds and admired the many species of flowers and shrubs, particularly the large magnolias, camellias and daffs.  The lightly wooded area was very colourful with smaller flowers such as wood anemones and scillas.  Sissinghurst has a large 2nd handbook shop, gift shop and a smaller cake/coffee and tea shop in an all-in-one old building, and plant centre. There are a nice selection of tasty homemade cakes and a good selection of healthy spring plants on offer outside.  Seating for outside eating too on wooden picnic benches and tables.   Further on is the main Granary restaurant serving a good array of hot meals.  The two acres veg plot is worth a visit to see just what can be grown on heavy soil.  Impressive long row of chard of three colours looked impressive.  Freshy pulled rhubarb was on sale near the plant centre

Spring or not, Sissinghurst always has something special to offer including a climb up the tower for a fabulous over-all view
