If you are a school or a group looking to visit Ightham Mote, then contact us to arrange your transportation and logistics. Igtham Mote is a National Trust property used by schools to support the national curriculum. It is a medieval house with a large mote dating back to the 14th century. It is said to be the UK’s most intact example of a medieval house giving us insight into how we used to live. We take school groups and community groups to Ightham Mote, where you can lose yourself in this picture postcard romantic moated manor house. David Starkey, the historian described Ightham as ‘one of the most beautiful and interesting of English country houses’. The house was built nearly 700 years ago, and in that time has seen many changes and changed hands between medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII and high society Victorians.
The house was given to the National Trust in 1985 by Charles Henry Robinson. The house is surrounded by peaceful gardens with an orchard, water features, lakes and woodland walks. Perfect for a picnic, especially on one of the walks with sweeping views across the Kent countryside.
